How to Prepare Your Images
File Preparation for Digital Printmaking

  1. Complete all work on your Master File to your liking. This includes cropping, color correction (calibrate your monitor), retouching, etc. You don't need to resize or resample your image to the size it will be printed; leave the file it in its native resolution–we can make prints at multiple sizes from one Master File and it's better for us all to work with smaller files.

Your file should be in RGB color; ideally ProPhoto or Adobe RGB (1998). sRGB files are acceptable too.
DO NOT CONVERT YOUR FILE TO CMYK.

  2. Optional: Soft-Proof your file using the Coalson Editions printer profile(s) for the paper(s) you want the image printed on.

  3. Flatten your Master File and Save as TIF, with LZW compression, if available.
    NO LAYERED FILES PLEASE.

  4. Send the file(s) to us by FTP or on disc.
