Custom ICC Printer Profiles from Coalson Editions
ICC printer profiles are crucial components of color-managed workflows: they mathematically describe the characteristics of printers, inks and paper combinations and help control the output of color values when printing. (ICC is the acronym for International Color Consortium, the group in charge of establishing the standards for digital color.) At Coalson Editions, I use ICC profiles to ensure accurate, consistent color on every print I make.
Before printing, you can also use printer profiles to "soft proof" images in Photoshop. On your monitor, a soft proof simulates how the image will look when printed on a specific paper. If necessary, you can then add adjustment layers to fine-tune the image for printing.
During my standard file preparation process (included in the print price of each image), I use custom ICC printer profiles to soft proof each image and make any adjustments required to reproduce each image perfectly. If you have a properly calibrated monitor, you may be able to use my printer profiles to do the soft proofing and adjustments yourself.

Below are links to the ICC printer profiles for Coalson Editions’ Epson Stylus Pro 9800 on the various substrates (papers etc.) that I offer. These printer profiles are provided free of charge and without warranty. To download the profiles, right-click with your mouse or hold the CTRL button when clicking the link, then select "Save Link to Disk...", or "Save File As..." to download the printer profiles to your computer. Custom Printer Profiles for Your Own Printer
If you use your own printer and want to make the best prints possible, you need to use custom printer profiles. Coalson Editions uses professional tools from X-Rite to make custom ICC profiles for only $25 each. To get your own custom printer profile:
- Download the color target files and printing instructions:
- Letter Size targets - two 8.5x11 inch sheets
- Tabloid Size targets - one 11x17 inch sheet - Send payment via PayPal
- Print the target(s) and mail to Coalson Editions
- Your custom printer profile will be sent to you by email within 5 business days after I receive your printed target(s) and payment
